About the Performance

Catherine Russell has been hailed by the Huffington Post as, “a legend hiding in plain sight,” while Town & Country calls John Pizzarelli, “hip with a wink.”

In Billie & Blue Eyes, Russell’s Grammy Award-winning vocals and Pizzarelli’s smooth quartet pair to evoke the glory days of jazz, taking on two of the greats:  Billie Holiday and Frank Sinatra. This unforgettable evening features soulful interpretations of chart-topping classics like “All of Me,” “God Bless the Child,” “Witchcraft,” and “One More for My Baby.” Instead of stepping back in time, these artists pull the music gracefully into the present, and do it all with their signature panache.

Catherine Russell is a Grammy-Award winning vocalist born into musical royalty (her father was Louis Armstrong’s long-time musical director and her mother performed with International Sweethearts of Rhythm, Mary Lou Williams, and Sy Oliver). Carrying on the family legacy, Russell has made quite the name for herself, performing with legendary musicians, Carrie Smith, Steely Dan, David Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Paul Simon, Rosanne Cash, and more, as well as garnering worldwide acclaim for her solo jazz work.

Jazz guitarist and vocalist John Pizzarelli has made a name for himself as a leading interpreter of the Great American Songbook, even opening for Frank Sinatra on his 1993 international tour. Whether performing with his wife (Broadway star Jessica Molaskey), going solo, or playing with some of music’s biggest names (James Taylor, Natalie Cole, Kristin Chenoweth, Tom Wopat,  Rosemary Clooney, to name a few), Pizzarelli always lights up the room with his cool jazz flavor and brilliant guitar playing.
