Together, they fuse Appalachian folk and traditional Venezuelan music in dizzying ways.

– San Francisco Chronicle

On a mission to show that music has no borders, Larry Bellorín, a legend of Llanera music from Monagas, Venezuela has teamed up with Joe Troop, a Grammy-nominated bluegrass and oldtime musician. The two met while working in construction during the Pandemic, when Joe’s acclaimed band Che Apalache was forced into hiatus and concerts dried up for Larry. The rest, as they say, is history.

With roots in North Carolina, Larry & Joe have built a passionate fanbase across the nation and have been featured in NPR’s Here & Now. As versatile multi-instrumentalists, and singer-songwriters, the duo are electric! The fusion of Venezuelan and Appalachian folk music is heard in the harp, banjo, cuatro, fiddle, maracas, guitar, upright bass and whatever else they decide to throw in the van. Larry & Joe’s distinct blend of musical inheritances and traditions tell a story of the ways music bridges our divides.
