Hiromi has thrilled our audiences in 2009 and 2011 with her virtuosic piano playing. She’s back by popular demand with her new project “Sonicwonder,” an electrified four-piece band with heavy groove, featuring Adam O’Farrill on trumpet, Hadrien Feraud on bass, and Gene Coye on drums.

In this highly physical, stunningly fluid work, 14 all-male virtuoso urban street performers from Algeria, Morocco and the Mediterranean basin defy gravity. With a rich movement vocabulary combining capoeira, urban and contemporary dance, Compagnie Hervé KOUBI deftly marries strength with vulnerability.

Jazz saxophone and woodwind artist Alexa Tarantino wowed us in February 2023 when she played here with the inimitable Cécile McLorin Salvant. Alexa on the road with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, and her own Alexa Tarantino Quartet (who will be performing with her in Stewart Theatre).

Murielle Elizéon & Shana Tucker at NCMA | FEB 8-16

When We were Queens…, a multidisciplinary performance by French choreographer Murielle Elizéon in collaboration with acclaimed musician Shana Tucker, will have its world premiere in February at the North Carolina Museum of Art.

Small Island Big Song brings together Indigenous artists from across the island nations of the Pacific and Indian Oceans, a region at the frontline of the climate crisis, as sea level rise threatens their homelands. These musicians have come together with filmmakers, oceanographers, scientists, and poets to create a concert experience that Billboard calls, “One coherent jaw dropping piece.” Don’t miss the finale to our mainstage season!
